A visit of the National Archaeological Museum; ranks among the most important museums in sub-Saharan Africa. It housed the 3.5 million-year-old bones of Lucy. Lucy is believed to be the ancestor of all Humankind. It has lots of ancient exhibits that reflect the importance of Ethiopia as the “Cradle of Mankind‟. Its historic room features finery worn in the wars, such as crowns, weapons, and pictures of wartime heroes and kings.
Visit St. George‟s Cathedral (Giorgis Cathedral) which lies at the north end of Churchill Rd. Designed in the traditional octagonal shape, this cathedral was built in 1896 to commemorate Ethiopia’s victory over the Italians at the Battle of Adwa. The Cathedral houses the work of Afewerk Tekle, the renowned Ethiopian artist responsible for the stained glass windows of the Africa Hall and also houses a small museum in the compound.
And a visit of Merkato; the Largest open Market in Africa; where virtually every possible commodity is on sale, from livestock to computers. It is closed on Sundays & for a visitor good at bargaining, there is a huge selection of Ethiopian arts and crafts.

Following an early morning breakfast, transfer to Addis Ababa (Bole) int. airport for your flight to Semera, the capital of the Afar region ET 110@0700-08:20am and then head to Hamed Ela.
Hamed Ela is just a collection of a few simple huts located at the end of the world. And it gets pretty hot here! In the late afternoon drive out from Hamed Ela to Lake Assal. Here you can not only admire the traditional way of local salt mining, but hopefully also meet one of the camel caravans that transport the salt blocks to the Ethiopian highlands. The Afar people believe that the saltpans are haunted at night by an evil spirit called Abo Lalu. The sunset over the Salt Lake is an unforgettable experience!
Explore the incredible landscapes around Dallol. Dallol is 116 meters below sea level, making it one of the lowest and hottest places on earth. The Dallol Volcano is covered by a thick layer of salt but still shows up on the surface with bizarre salt formations, hundreds of fumaroles (gas vents) and acidic lakes in all colors.

Following breakfast, drive to Dodom to arrange camels for the trekking to the Erta’ale volcanic eruptions. Today you will pass with a bumpy gravel road. En route enjoy the desert landscape of the area.
Erta Ale meaning Smoking Mountain is particularly a unique Lave Crater Lake that erupts all the time. Erta Ale is the best place to study geology particularly the volcanic eruption, besides its great adventurous value Erta Ale an active volcano that worth seeing and never eradicate easily from one’s mind the temperature of this active volcanic is over 3000 degrees centigrade.
Early dinner will be served around 18:00 and trek to Erta ale which takes about 30 minutes. Camels transport all the camping materials and some food, sleeping materials, mattresses, and water, to the rim of the volcano, where you spend the night watching the dramatic action of the boiling lava.
The New Erta Ale is part of volcano mountain chain ranks one of the most alluring and physically challenging natural attractions anywhere in Ethiopia. It is a shield volcano with a base diameter of 30 km and 1km square caldera at its summit. New Erta Ale is part of the world’s only permanent lava lake and you will spend an unforgettable night on the top of the mountain. The magma flow moved 3.5 km south from old Erta Ale to the new eruption point.

Early morning trek back to the rim of the volcano – watch sensational views of the surrounding and return back to your campsite for breakfast, then drive to Afdera and enjoy Lake Afdera, “the great salt lake”. And return back to Semera to catch your flight to Addis Ababa ET165 SZE– ADD @ 5:30pm – 6:50pm.
