It was the first capital of British East Africa until Nairobi became the capital in 1907. The city soon became a major trading center in East Africa, mainly trading spices, slaves, coconuts and ivory. Commercial ties reached the mainland of India and China. Over the centuries, the city changed hands – the Arabs, the Portuguese, the Sultanate of Oman, and in 1840 Mombasa was taken by the Sultan of Zanzibar, who later gave it to the British. It became a protectorate of Great Britain, which made Mombasa a sea gate and railway station. Tourists enjoy some types of safaris and since the beach is perfect for snorkeling, diving and much more – this is why Mombasa has been a popular tourist destination for the past 100 years. On the other hand, Mombasa is not only famous for its beaches. The destination is well known as an ancient city that existed from the first to the fifth century.
Mombasa is now Kenya’s main port and the capital of Mombasa County. The city is known as the “white and blue city” in Kenya, also for its calm pace amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life, so the slogan “Hakuna matata” – a Swahili phrase meaning “no problem” or “don’t worry” – reflects the
reality of a slow life. Overnight at a hotel in Mombasa.

Masai Mara is known not only for the Big Five, but also for the Great Wildebeest Migration, which is why tourists visit Masai Mara. Animals migrate from the Serengeti to the Mara in late summer and return closer to November. Seeing how huge groups of antelopes and zebras cross the river, hoping to survive and not fall into the mouth of a crocodile or the paws of a lion on land, is worth at least once in a lifetime. This amazing sight makes the reserve special and one of the most visited in Africa. The famous movie “Out of Africa” with Meryl Streep in the lead role was filmed in the Masai Mara.
The territory of the reserve is divided into several regions: the Ngama Hills, Ukis Syria, the Mara Triangle and the Central Plains. The ecosystem is home to more than 95 animal species, including groups of elephants and buffaloes, hippos and giraffes, zebras and gazelles, crocodiles, rhinoceroses and monkeys. But most travelers come here to see the most famous predators in Africa – “big cats” – lions, cheetahs and leopards, as well as jackals and hyenas. In the reserve, it is possible to see
animals at close range and even spot them while hunting. A night in Masai Mara.
