Tour Plan

Day 1 Voigtland

Meet and greet anr the airport, transfer to the Voigtland Guesthouse. Voigtland Guesthouse is delightfully different and combines an atmosphere of old world charm with a unique modern style. Meet Namibia’s cutest giraffes during your stay. Originally built around 1900, the house is set on the slopes of a hill in a spacious landscape of trees, lawns and gardens. Turn your stay into a highlight with our luxurious high-tea, followed by an unbelievable giraffe feeding experience right by your table.

Day 2 Drive to – Sossusvlei

Pick up in the morning. Leaving Windhoek, on route south to Sossusvlei via scenic Spreetshoogte Pass – one of the most spectacular places in Namibia. Stopover for lunch in the Solitaire, an oasis in the Namib Desert. Arrival at the lodge for rest and dinner in the afternoon.

Accommodation in the Namib Desert at: Camping – Sesriem Campsite, Comfort – Namib Desert Camp, Luxury Dead Valley Lodge or similar.

Distance: 350 km on a gravel road.

Duration: 5 hours with stop-overs and lunch break.

Day 3 Sossusvlei

Early morning before sunrise, 70 km scenic drive through Sesriem Gate to Sossusvlei – place of the highest dunes of the World, which was recently inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list as the ‚Sand Sea’. The option of climbing picturesque Dune 45 to experience the beauty and vastness of the fascinating orange-colored landscape. After the climb, a 5 km off-road 4×4 trail to visit surreal Deadvlei, a place of vast clay pan and dried-up, ancient acacias standing silent in an impressive landscape. Break for lunch. In the afternoon, visit Sesriem Canyon and Elim Dune.

Distance: around 200 km on tar, gravel, and sand roads

Day 4 Drive to Swakopmund

The adventure begins after breakfast as we travel through the Namib-Naukluft Park to Swakopmund, passing by canyons and fascinating rock formations. The magnificent landscape of the Namib reaches as far as the eye can see. Wildlife and grazing antelopes:  oryx and springbuck, mountain zebras, giraffes, and the World’s biggest birds that don’t fly – ostriches. En route, celebrating crossing of the Tropic of Capricorn (famous geographical line) – time for pictures! Upon arrival in Walvis Bay, visit the lagoon for a close encounter with flamingos.

Day 5 Swakopmund

Today you have time for optional activities on the coast.

Visit to the “lunar landscape” and Welwitchia Mirabilis trails – botanic attraction, known as the ‚living fossil’; considered to be one of the oldest and most original plants on Earth.

Day 6 Drive to Damaraland

Travelling on the coastal salt-road leading us 150 km north to the Cape Cross and the Cape Fur Seal colony. After observing huge family of these aquatic mammals, we are turning east into desert region of Damaraland, traveling towards mountainous Brandberg Massif, one of the most magnificent and majestic places of Namibia. On the way, passing by Damara villages in the communal area, en route chance to spot ostriches, jackals, hyenas and springboks.

Distance: 350 km (gravel road, including 160 km salt road).

Duration: around 8 hrs.

Day 7 Twyfelfontein

Early in the morning, on route to visit Twyfelfontein – UNESCO World Heritage Site, where over 2000 rock engravings created by Bushmen are found in the rusty rocks and mountains. Engravings picture animals, hunters and hunting, people and their lifestyle.

Optional activities: Ethnic visit at the ‚Living Museum’ presenting Damara culture.

Accommodation: Desert Elephant Campsite, Twyfelfontein Country Lodge, Mowani Mountain Lodge, or similar.

Distance: around 300 km on gravel roads.

Duration: around 8 hours, including sightseeing and lunch.

Day 8 Kaokoland

After breakfast, we are venturing further into Kaokoland to Opuwo, the capital of this northern region. The next day, we will meet the semi-nomadic Himba tribe. One of the last pastoral tribes on Earth, who continue to keep their traditional ancient way of life, as they have for hundreds of years. Unique chance for ethnic photography!

Optional activities: Visit to Petrify Forest

Duration: around 8 hrs, including breaks for picture-taking and lunch.

Day 9 Himba Village

In the morning, an unforgettable visit to the Himba village, learning about their nomadic way of life. Unique opportunity to observe exotic culture and customs. The Himba are a tribe of semi-nomadic pastoralists who inhabit the Kaokoland in northern Namibia. They have clung to their traditions, and the beautiful Himba women are noted for their orange-colored skin, intricate hairstyles, and traditional jewelry. Himba men and women wear few clothes, apart from a loincloth or goat-skin mini-skirt. They rub their bodies with a mixture of red ocher and animal fat to protect themselves against the sun, insects and to condition their skin. It gives Himba’s skin characteristic rich, red color. Himba jewelry is made from iron, animal skin, or shell, and due to the intricate designs, it has become very popular among visiting tourists. A visit to the Himba village creates a superb opportunity for spectacular ethnic photography! After morning adventure, time for lunch and afternoon rest.

After a visit to the Himba village, we are heading further north in the direction of Kunene River to admire Epupa Falls. Kunene creates a natural border between Namibia and Angola.

On arrival at Epupa Falls, visit the falls.

In the late afternoon, we will climb Kapika Hill to admire the falls with the setting sun.

Distance: 180 km on gravel roads, including travel to the Himba village.

Day 10 Etosha National Park

On our way to the spectacular nature reserve – Etosha National Park! Etosha is dedicated to protecting the wildlife of the African bush and Savannah. Its beauty and natural charm simply overwhelm the visitor! Wild animals inhabit enormous regions of grassy Savannah. Harmony and balance of nature fill the viewer with tranquil peace and serenity. Live ‚theater of nature’ at its best!

Distance: around 500 km on tarred and gravel roads.

Duration: around 8 hours with stops for sightseeing and lunch.

Day 11 Eyosha National Park

On safari trails of Etosha, unlimited game drive from sunrise until sunset. We are tracking wildlife in its own natural habitat, observing herds of elephants, zebras, hyenas, a variety of antelopes: kudu, oryx, impalas, eland, springbok, gnu, giraffes, rhino, jackals, and birds of prey. Searching for big cats of Etosha: cheetah and leopard, and for ‚king of the Savannah’ – the lion.

At the waterholes, in calm and stillness, we are observing wild animals coming for a drink of water after a hot day. Evenings spent at the waterhole, watching and admiring a wide variety of wildlife. Till late at night, we are captivated by an incredible nature show!

Day 12 Etosha National Park

On safari trails of Etosha, unlimited game drive from sunrise until sunset.

Day 13 End of tour

After the last visit to the waterhole, leaving Etosha in the morning and heading south to Windhoek ‚back to civilization. On the way, visit the open-air craft market in Okahandja. Wonderful opportunity to purchase hand-made curios and African souvenirs.

We will drop you off at the airport.

End of the tour.
