9:30 Breakfast, 10:15 Transfer for inspection to the iconic Giraffe Manor, part of The Safari Collection.
The Giraffe Manor boutique hotel in Nairobi is an exclusive lodge home to a herd of wild giraffes. Part of The Safari Collection, Giraffe Manor combines extraordinary wildlife encounters, exquisite hospitality, and a long-standing commitment to giraffe conservation. The historic manor is set on 12 acres of private land amidst 140 acres of virgin forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi and is one of the city’s most iconic buildings. The manor has an extraordinary appeal that takes us back to the 1930s. With its majestic façade, elegant interiors, leafy gardens, sunny terraces, and charming courtyards, guests often remark that they feel like they are in the movie Out of Africa: one of the twelve rooms is named after the author of the book, Karen Blixen. One of the most interesting features of Giraffe Manor is the herd of Nubian and Rothschild giraffes that may visit the property morning and evening, poking their long necks through the windows in the hope of a treat. Giraffe Manor has a long-standing giraffe breeding program that has successfully increased the giraffe population in the wild. The Safari Collection, founded by Tanya and Mikey Carr-Hartley in 2009, is a portfolio of luxury camps and lodges located in some of Kenya’s most beautiful locations. Both Tanya and Mikey are Kenyans with a deep love and respect for nature. Their deep knowledge of East Africa’s wildlife, culture, and environment allows them to offer truly immersive experiences that are not only about spotting the Big Five, but also about allowing people to experience the true spirit of the country. Safari Collection’s luxury African travel experience includes camps and lodges located in some of the best areas in East Africa. Each one is unique and unrepeatable. Get ready for a close encounter with the world’s tallest animal at Giraffe Manor. Encounter rhinos on the plains of Laikipia at Solio Lodge. Take a helicopter ride from Sasaab to explore the wildest corners of Kenya. Enjoy stunning sunsets and the roar of a pride of lions at Sala’s Camp in the Masai Mara. Experience complete freedom at Siruai Mobile Camp.
